Local: PNE and EDF power solutions Germany commission "Gebstedt" onshore wind farm – renewable energy supply for around 14,400 households

  • Four new wind turbines with a total capacity of 16.8 MW commissioned
  • Supply potential for around 14,400 three‑person households

Gebstedt/Willerstedt, 23 January 2026 – The "Gebstedt" wind farm in the Weimarer Land district was officially commissioned at the end of 2025. PNE Group and EDF power solutions Germany have constructed four wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 16.8 megawatts (MW) at the site. Two of the wind turbines are operated by PNE Group and the other two by EDF power solutions as part of their respective own generation portfolios. The wind farm can supply around 14,400 three-person households with climate-friendly power each year (source: BDEW 2021), saving approximately 40,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually (source: BWE 2023).

The four Vestas V150 turbines are located on agricultural land in the municipalities of Ilmtal-Weinstraße, Apolda and Bad Sulza. The permit under the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) was issued as early as 2018. Subsequently, financing was secured and the investment decisions were taken, enabling preparations for construction to begin. Prior to construction, an intensive dialogue was conducted with the municipalities and other stakeholders through various formats. Following the conclusion of the legal proceedings, open questions were clarified and a constructive basis for further cooperation was established.

The project was implemented in cooperation with EDF power solutions, with each party realising two turbines. Construction began in December 2024, and the planned commissioning took place in November and December 2025.

"Our thanks go to everyone involved – from landowners and the municipalities to the participating companies – for the constructive collaboration that contributed to the successful completion of this project," said project managers Jan Voß (EDF power solutions) and Sven Hünefeld (PNE).

Municipal value creation in accordance with Section 6 EEG

In accordance with Section 6 EEG 2023, PNE and EDF power solutions offer voluntary municipal participation to the surrounding municipalities within a radius of 2.5 kilometres. The companies offer the municipalities of Ilmtal-Weinstraße, Apolda and Bad Sulza payments of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity generated. The amount of participation is based on the actual amount of electricity fed into the grid and strengthens regional value creation.

Measures for nature and species protection

Targeted measures to protect nature and the environment were implemented during the construction phase and throughout the project. Environmental compatibility also plays a central role during ongoing operations. To protect particularly sensitive species groups such as birds and bats, protective and avoidance measures were implemented during the construction phase that will continue to support species conservation in the long term.

As part of the path restoration concept, numerous new trees are being planted along the affected routes, and existing shrubs and tree populations are being professionally maintained and preserved.

During the operation of the turbines, protecting people and the environment remains a priority: the legally permitted thresholds for noise and shadow flicker emissions are fully complied with. To reduce night-time light emissions, an on-demand night-time identification (ONI/BNK) system is used. In addition, the turbines are equipped with ice detection systems that automatically stop the rotor in the event of icing, reliably preventing ice throw.

Wind farm "Gebstedt" to become part of PNE Group’s own generation portfolio

The two wind turbines of the "Gebstedt" wind farm, which were built by the PNE Group, will be transferred to its own operating portfolio. energy consult GmbH, a company of the PNE Group, will take over the commercial and technical management of these two turbines, including monitoring their technical performance and coordinating regular maintenance work.
